Congratulations to Gavin Russom who recently publicly shared her trans identity!
Caroline Hippler
Gavin Russom, a member of and longtime collaborator with LCD Soundsystem, came out as a trans woman yesterday in a long interview with Pitchfork. Gavin talks in thoughtful, honest detail about her experiences embodying her own identity, the debt she owes to trans women of color, and decision making about how best to live the life she wants.
“This is my fifth decade being alive...and in each of those decades, there’s been a time where I’ve tried to say, ‘Hey, I think I’m transgender!’ This was even before that word existed.”
To hear more from Gavin, check out the Pitchfork article, as well as a follow up interview with Grindr.
Congratulations, Gavin! Your authenticity is beautiful. Thank you for letting us in on this experience.
